Free Blood Pressure Check Service

Marks Tey Pharmacy

High blood pressure often has no symptoms, but it increases the risk of serious health problems such as heart disease and stroke. The only way to know your blood pressure is to have it checked.

We offer blood pressure checks at Marks Tey Pharmacy, carried out by trained pharmacy staff in a private consultation area.

Who can have a blood pressure check?

You can have a blood pressure check at our pharmacy if you:

  • Want to check your blood pressure as part of looking after your health

  • Have been advised to monitor your blood pressure

  • Are taking medication for a long-term condition

  • Have concerns about high or low blood pressure

NHS Blood Pressure Check Service

We provide the NHS blood pressure check service at Marks Tey Pharmacy for eligible adults aged 40 and over in England, in line with NHS criteria.

If your reading is raised, we will explain what it means and advise on the appropriate next steps. This may include repeat readings, home monitoring, or contacting your GP.

What happens during the test?

The test is quick and usually takes just a few minutes:

  1. You’ll be asked to sit down and relax

  2. An inflatable cuff is placed around your upper arm

  3. The cuff inflates briefly while the reading is taken

  4. We may take more than one reading to ensure accuracy

Understanding your result

Blood pressure is recorded as two numbers (for example, 130/80).

A reading may be considered high if it is:

  • 140/90 or higher when measured by a healthcare professional, or

  • 135/85 or higher when measured at home

We will explain your result clearly and answer any questions you may have.
